Lot 4764
Helena, Augusta, 324-328/30. Follis (Silvered bronze, 20 mm, 4.07 g), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Ticinum, irregular mint, after 326. EL HELENA AVGVSTA Diademed and draped bust of Helena to right. Rev. SECVRITAS REI PVBLICE / Q(crescent)T Securitas standing front, head to left, holding branch in her right hand. Cf. RIC 202 (for prototype). Slightly rough, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

The style of this coin is clearly unofficial, indicating that it is a contemporary 'barbarous' imitation. The mint mark is that of Ticinum, but the portrait is of typical Treveran style.
